Acquire foundational skills for any jewelry project
This is a 3.5 hour workshop.
Have you always wanted to make your own jewelry but don't know where to start? Through working on the projects in this workshop, you will acquire many of the basic skills needed to get started on your jewelry-making journey.
You will make and take home:
3 pairs of earrings & 1 gemstone necklace
1. delicate cluster bead earrings with freshwater pearls and gemstones
2. long line tassels, crystals and beads earrings
3. hammered brass and cut beads tribal earrings
4. wrapped gemstone bead necklace
In additional to acquiring the jewelry skills in fabricating above projects (how to properly close jump rings, how to use pliers to create perfect loops, hammer metal for texture etc.) you will also receive an overview of basic jewelry-making terms and materials and their uses beyond what are used in the projects so that you can take this knowledge and apply it to future creative jewelry pursuits.
We've all been there. You're super excited to have found a jewelry supply shop but you get completely overwhelmed by the selections and choices. You don't know where to start and getting everything in your basket will cost a fortune.
The sales person is too busy to answer your questions or gives you unsatisfying answers.
So you just walk out without getting anything, or worse, you get a few things but realize afterwards that they are incomplete or the wrong things. You get frustrated and put it aside and never look at it again.
Money wasted and jewelry-making dreams dashed.
We're here to help.
Learn the names of findings and tools and their appropriate uses and never waste another dollar or be lost again!
Chain nose, flat nose, round, crimp pliers? Gold-filled or gold plated? Fish line, tiger tail, stretch or silk cord? Crimp bead, lobster, spring ring clasp, jump ring sizes, wire gauge etc. These are all questions you should answer before starting any jewelry project.
Learn the appropriate terms and uses of jewelry tools and findings. Which tools and findings do you REALLY need?
The projects chosen were carefully selected to give you a foundational understanding of jewelry-making while still being on-trend.
These projects will demonstrate the basic ways in which connections are made to form a piece of jewelry without using soldering or other types of heat.
We want you to take what you've learned and spread your creative wings. With the skills learned here, you will be able to create literally thousands of different designs by simply choosing different materials or making minor adjustments. The possibilities are truly endless.
* NOTE - tools and supplies will be provided for use IN CLASS only
